General Construction Tips & Techniques
The Model should be constructed in a clean, well-illuminated, comfortable workspace, with adequate room to lay out components and set aside glued parts to dry.
Read the instructions provided all the way through before commencing assembly. Examine all of the components, comparing them with the illustrations, to obtain a working knowledge of the model.
Use PVA glue as this is the safest and will give you the best results.
Gently press out the pre-cut components as required, to avoid misplacing or losing them. These are pre-scored where folding is used to achieve the finished profile. Folds are made in the direction away from the printed side of card, which will leave the printed side facing out.
We suggest that you "dry" assemble the components first and test fit them to ensure all parts line up properly before applying any glue. Dotted lines have been provided in certain locations to indicate alignment of mating pieces.
Components are numbered on the exploded view in the sequence of assembly.
Place a small amount of PVA glue onto a piece of scrap card about 5 minutes before use, to allow the glue to obtain a slightly thicker consistency, then apply to model using a surplus strip of cardboard/dowel in all necessary locations.
The formed shapes should be held together firmly in place for approximately 5 minutes to allow the glue to dry. You may prefer to use elastic bands and/or clothes pegs for this purpose. If you accidentally apply too much glue to a joint, take a moment to wipe of the excess before it dries.
Dowel rods require cutting to length. Young children should perhaps obtain adult assistance with this.
You may wish to give the model its own unique identity by applying decals and finishing strips, which can be cut from any remaining card using a pair of scissors.
When fully dry, the completed model is ready for final painting to suit your individual requirements. N.B.: - Test paint a scrap piece of card to ensure your required standard of finish can be achieved, before applying to the model.
After painting, why not cut out advertisements from surplus magazines or brochures, these can look particularly good on the truck models.
Taking extra time and care in all of the above operations will enhance your finished model. Just like everything else it takes practice to obtain perfect results, but the more models you make, the better the results will be.
Helpful Hints
Such things as clothes pegs and elastic bands can be used to hold items of the kit together whilst the glue is drying. Remember not to make the elastic bands too tight though!
To give a model a realistic finished look, cut company brand logos from used packaging or old magazines. Period logos can often be found on the internet which can be printed off and used.
Look around the house and garden for lorry loads. Small twigs make great timber loads and small stones or gravel are ideal for hardcore loads.
Use some thin perspex or plastic which you might find in the packaging of some types of cakes. Cut sections and stick on the inside of the cab's windows. Try making them look half open!

Company Profile
Welcome to the wonderful creative world of cardboard model engineering.

Creative Model Designs Ltd. is a newly formed company and has a nucleus of cardboard engineers with a wealth of experience from a variety of industries.
The current line up of prototypes, which has been in development over the past 8 years, stand at approximately 200, with many more on the drawing board. These consist of such things as lorries, cars, buildings, boats and ships plus many original designs for the science fiction range.
We decided to initially launch the company with 4 lorries (40 variations of civilian/military) followed by 4 science fiction (2 fighters and 2 tanks). The catalogue, once issued, will display further models from the range.
We will endeavour to cater for both discerning modellers and novice beginners, with models which will also be suitable for railway enthusiasts and war gamers.
All our models will be produced to a scale of 1:76 (OO - 4mm to 1 foot) in the beginning, but almost any scale can be produced if the demand, from you the customer, is large enough. Our exhaustive research has told us that 1:76 scale should be our launch pad.
Each model has been designed and manufactured in flat pack kit form in black and white card to a simple yet high standard of accuracy to enable easy and fast assembly, which can be decorated with almost any paint or crayon media to produce an individually attractive model for your purpose, whether for displaying or for playing. We have deliberately done this to cater for all age groups from 7 years upwards. The discerning modeller may wish to take slightly longer by adding more detail, whilst others may just want to get on and play with it!
